Bibiana herself was pressured, then tormented, in an effort to force her into apostasy, and she was martyred around 363 AD, bound to a pillar in a final act of defiance rather than compliance. She's buried in the Basilica of Santa Bibiana in Rome, built on the site of her family's home, and over the centuries her intercession became specifically associated with epilepsy, severe headaches, and mental and nervous disorders, likely tied to the trauma her body endured.
