Saint Jude, Patron Saint of Hopeless Causes and Desperate Situations

Jude was one of the original Twelve Apostles, a cousin of Jesus by tradition, and the author of a short New Testament letter urging early Christians to hold firm to their faith under pressure. For centuries afterward, devotion to him lagged behind nearly every other apostle, largely because his name was too easily confused with Judas Iscariot, the apostle who betrayed Christ. Out of that neglect grew an unexpected reputation: because so few people turned to him, tradition holds he became especially eager to help anyone who did, no matter how impossible their situation seemed. Visions reported by both Saint Bridget of Sweden and Saint Bernard reinforced this, with Christ himself reportedly naming Jude as the one to call on when all else had failed. Jude was martyred around 65 AD in Persia, and pilgrims who prayed at his grave afterward reported such powerful answers to prayer that he earned the title "The Saint for the Hopeless and the Despaired." Devotion to him remains enormous today, especially in the United States, where novenas to Saint Jude are among the most widely practiced Catholic prayers.

A Gift For...

    • Anyone facing a situation that feels genuinely hopeless or impossible
    • Someone going through a hard time, whether it's illness, loss, or circumstances beyond their control
    • A person waiting on results, a diagnosis, or news they can't control
    • A confirmation candidate who wants a saint known specifically for showing up when nothing else has worked
    • A Saint Jude's Day gift on October 28, for anyone in the middle of a difficult season

    A Confirmation Gift for Jude

For a confirmation candidate who's already faced real hardship, Jude offers something few saints can, a reputation built entirely on showing up in the situations everyone else had given up on. Engrave a name and confirmation date, and let his story carry the rest.

    The Saint Jude Medal

This medal depicts him bearded and robed, a flame above his head marking his presence at Pentecost, holding the Image of Edessa, a cloth bearing the face of Christ, close to his chest, his halo radiating outward. The natural gold or silver of the metal forms the illustration itself. Black ink is applied to the pendant surface and the metal shows through as the image. A shatterproof liquid glass coating seals the surface. The result has a depth and precision that printed medals don't achieve.

    Personalization and Engraving

The optional engraving on the reverse is rendered in Tangerine cursive, two lines, up to 20 characters each. Many choose a name and a meaningful date, while others engrave "never hopeless" or simply his name alone.

Saint Jude's feast day is October 28, and nearly two thousand years after his death, novenas asking for his intercession remain one of the most widely prayed devotions in the entire Catholic Church, a saint once so overlooked he's now impossible to overlook.

    FAQ

    How long does production take?

Each medal is made to order in the USA. Production takes 5-6 business days before shipping. If you need it for a birthday, confirmation, or any specific occasion, order at least two weeks in advance to be safe.

What does the engraving look like?

The reverse is engraved in Tangerine cursive — an elegant, flowing script. You get two lines, up to 20 characters each. Names, dates, short quotes. The engraving is laser-etched directly into the metal, not printed.

    Is the chain included?

Yes. Every medal ships on an 18-22" adjustable snake chain in the same finish as the medal - stainless steel or 18k gold. No need to source a chain separately.

    Are the medals hypoallergenic?

Yes. Both options are made from medical-grade 316 stainless steel. The 18k gold finish is applied over that same 316 stainless steel base. Safe for sensitive skin.

    How durable is the coating?

Each medal is hand-sealed with a shatterproof liquid glass coating poured directly over the surface. It protects the artwork from scratches and moisture without dulling the detail or altering the color. It's designed to be worn daily, not kept in a drawer.

What's your return policy on engraved orders?

Because every medal is custom-made to order, engraved pieces cannot be returned unless there's a defect or error on our part. If anything arrives damaged or incorrect, contact us and we'll make it right.
