Saint Thomas the Apostle, Patron Saint of Doubters and Architects

Thomas was one of the Twelve Apostles, called Didymus, "the Twin," and remembered above all for one moment: absent when the risen Christ first appeared to the other disciples, Thomas refused to believe it, declaring he wouldn't accept the resurrection unless he could see the nail marks and put his own hand in Christ's wounded side. Eight days later, Christ appeared again, specifically for him, and offered exactly that proof. Thomas fell to his knees and said, "My Lord and my God," the moment that earned him the nickname "Doubting Thomas," a title that's followed him for two thousand years, though it undersells what actually happened, his doubt led directly to one of the most complete professions of faith in the entire Gospel. After Pentecost, tradition holds Thomas carried the faith further than any other apostle, traveling to India, where he founded Christian communities that still trace their roots to him today. A widely told legend adds that the King of India gave Thomas an architect's tools after he miraculously designed the plans for a royal palace, a story that eventually made him patron of architects and builders as well. He was martyred by spear near Chennai around 72 AD.

A Gift For...

  • Anyone who has struggled with doubt before finding a stronger faith
  • An architect, builder, carpenter, or mason
  • A confirmation candidate who wants proof before belief, not despite it
  • Anyone of Indian Christian heritage
  • A Saint Thomas's Day gift on July 3, for any builder, architect, or honest doubter in your life

A Confirmation Gift for Thomas

For a confirmation candidate whose faith came with real questions rather than easy certainty, Thomas offers permission to doubt honestly and still arrive somewhere solid. Engrave a name and confirmation date, and let his story carry the meaning.

The Saint Thomas Medal

This medal depicts him bearded and robed, a spear in one hand and a book in the other, his halo radiating outward against an ornate patterned border. The natural gold or silver of the metal forms the illustration itself. Black ink is applied to the pendant surface and the metal shows through as the image. A shatterproof liquid glass coating seals the surface. The result has a depth and precision that printed medals don't achieve.

Personalization and Engraving

The optional engraving on the reverse is rendered in Tangerine cursive, two lines, up to 20 characters each. Many choose a name and a confirmation date, or simply "My Lord and my God."

Saint Thomas's feast day is July 3, and nearly two thousand years later, the Christian communities he founded in Kerala, India, still bear his name, a faith built by the one apostle who insisted on proof before he'd believe it.

FAQ

How long does production take?

Each medal is made to order in the USA. Production takes 5-6 business days before shipping. If you need it for a birthday, confirmation, or any specific occasion, order at least two weeks in advance to be safe.

What does the engraving look like?

The reverse is engraved in Tangerine cursive — an elegant, flowing script. You get two lines, up to 20 characters each. Names, dates, short quotes. The engraving is laser-etched directly into the metal, not printed.

Is the chain included?

Yes. Every medal ships on an 18-22" adjustable snake chain in the same finish as the medal - stainless steel or 18k gold. No need to source a chain separately.

Are the medals hypoallergenic?

Yes. Both options are made from medical-grade 316 stainless steel. The 18k gold finish is applied over that same 316 stainless steel base. Safe for sensitive skin.

How durable is the coating?

Each medal is hand-sealed with a shatterproof liquid glass coating poured directly over the surface. It protects the artwork from scratches and moisture without dulling the detail or altering the color. It's designed to be worn daily, not kept in a drawer.

What's your return policy on engraved orders?

Because every medal is custom-made to order, engraved pieces cannot be returned unless there's a defect or error on our part. If anything arrives damaged or incorrect, contact us and we'll make it right.
