Saint Julia of Carthage, Patron Saint of Corsica & Torture Survivors
Julia was born to a noble Christian family in Carthage. When the city fell to the Vandals in 439, she was taken captive and sold into slavery to a pagan merchant named Eusebius. Rather than despair, she met her circumstances with a steady, uncomplaining faith that reportedly won her master's respect and the freedom to practice her religion openly. Years later, while sailing with Eusebius, the ship stopped on the coast of Corsica, where the local governor was holding a pagan festival. Julia refused to take part or renounce her faith, even under torture, and was martyred for that refusal. Christian monks recovered her body and gave her a proper burial after a vision revealed what had happened. She remains one of Corsica's patron saints today.

The Saint Julia of Carthage Medal
This medal depicts her in profile, holding a cross and a palm branch, the traditional mark of her martyrdom, her halo radiating outward. The natural gold or silver of the metal forms the illustration itself. Black ink is applied to the pendant surface and the metal shows through as the image. A shatterproof liquid glass coating seals the surface. The result has a depth and precision that printed medals don't achieve.

The reverse is engraved in Tangerine cursive — an elegant, flowing script. You get two lines, up to 20 characters each. Names, dates, short quotes. The engraving is laser-etched directly into the metal, not printed.
Is the chain included?
Yes. Every medal ships on an 18-22" adjustable snake chain in the same finish as the medal - stainless steel or 18k gold. No need to source a chain separately.
Are the medals hypoallergenic?
Yes. Both options are made from medical-grade 316 stainless steel. The 18k gold finish is applied over that same 316 stainless steel base. Safe for sensitive skin.
