Catherine de' Ricci was born in Florence in 1522 and entered a Dominican convent at thirteen. She became known for extraordinary mystical experiences, including stigmata in her hands, feet, side, and head, and documented bilocation, with contemporaries reporting conversations with her in Rome while she never left Florence. For twelve years, every Thursday at noon until Friday afternoon, she fell into a trance in which she relived Christ's Passion, physically taking on his wounds and positions before returning to her duties. She is also said to have received a mystical ring from Christ. She became prioress of her convent at thirty and held the role until her death in 1590. She's honored today as patron of the sick.
